720 Clock Hours –
280 Lecture Hours, 280 Lab Hours, 160 Externship
20 Weeks: 28 hours per week (Morning Class 6 Module)
28 Weeks: 20 hours per week (Evening Class 8 Module)
4 Weeks: 40 hours per week
Program Description:
Students will acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to enter the
profession as a Massage Therapist in Chiropractor, Acupuncturist, Physical
Therapist, or Physician offices, as well as preparing the graduate with
the massage techniques and required hours to open their own private
practice. This program is aimed at preparing the practitioner for medical
and therapeutic practice. At the completion of this course, students will
be eligible to apply for most city licenses, and practice as a Massage
Therapist.. Course components include:

Course Descriptions
Module 1 – Massage Technician I, Anatomy, Swedish
History of Massage, Types of Massage, Principles of Body Mechanics and
Draping, Indications and Contraindications of Massage, Anatomy basics,
Medical terminology, One hour Swedish Massage session.
Module 2 – Massage Technician II, Anatomy, Lymphatic
Pathogens and Physiological effects, Body Systems, Fundamentals of
Lymphatic Massage and drainage sites, One hour Lymphatic session.
Module 3 – Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shiatsu, Reflexology
History and Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Locations of Meridians
and Acupressure points, Indications/Contraindications of application,
Principles of energy – Basics of Polarity, Thirty minute Reflexology
session, One hour Shiatsu session.
Module 4 – Business Practice, Anatomy, Sports Massage, Psychology
Basics of business practices and local regulations, Ethics and standards
of practice, Associations and liability options, Chair Massage, Psychology
– Emotional Release, Systems of the body, Kinesiology and posture
assessments, Attachment sites, Muscle mechanics, Sports Massage
fundamentals.
Module 5 – Massage Technician III, Anatomy, Deep Tissue, Pathology
Pathogens and physiological effects, Diaphragmatic release, Body of
Systems, Trigger point therapy, Stretching, One hour Deep Tissue Session.
Module 6 – Externship
Externship provides school-coordinated work experience in a professional
guided setting, following completion of Modules 1-5, CPR, First Aid, and
Business Etiquette. Students gain practice in clinical duties, and receive
employer feedback.
