STUDENT SERVICES
West Coast College welcomes students to discuss any issues or concerns
with any member of the faculty or staff. Students are encouraged to
discuss academic as well as job-related concerns with both the Program
Director and/or faculty. The staff is also available on a daily basis to
assist students with financial services, job placement assistance, and
academic advisement.
Job Placement Assistance
Job placement assistance is offered to every graduate of West Coast
College.
WCC’s job placement assistance incorporates training for our students
in several job search-related topics, including resume writing,
interviewing techniques, and job search strategies. If students need
“refresher” training in any of these topics, WCC representatives are
available to provide such training at any time.
WCC employs a full-time job placement officer who is dedicated to
assisting our graduates in obtaining employment related to their training.
A variety of resources are used to locate training-related job openings.
These include local newspapers and help wanted publications; local and
regional governmental employment listings; Internet job search websites;
networking with past graduates, direct visit or contacts with local area
businesses with constant updates and direct interaction of WCC staff with
local employers. When appropriate job opportunities are identified for a
student, WCC staff may provide this information to the student or set up
an interview appointment for the student.
Although WCC cannot make job promises or guarantees, the Placement
Department attempts to place every available graduate. The Placement
Department assists students in applying for entry-level positions, which
directly relate to their program objectives. No salary promises or claims
are made.
Student Guidance and Advising
Academic counseling is provided to students by West Coast College
administrative staff and course instructors throughout their
participation, from the initial interview through enrollment and
completion. WCC staff is available to advise students on any problems that
they may be experiencing that could have an adverse effect on their
ability to learn and succeed in their course of study. When personal
issues arise that are outside the expertise of WCC staff, instructors or
administrative personnel will refer students to organizations with the
expertise to provide needed assistance.
Tutoring
Tutoring is available by course instructors to all students on an as
needed basis at no extra cost to students.
Transcripts
An official transcript is maintained for each student. The transcript
provides a complete record of all course grades and credits earned.
Students who lose or need replacement certificates of completion or
transcripts may request replacement in writing for a fee of $10 per
transcript or certificate. Within 15 days of the request, West Coast
College will mail the replacement certificate and/or transcript; or,
students may request to pick up the certificate or transcript in person
(please specify this in your written request).
West Coast College will withhold a student's certificate of completion or
diploma if the student is in default on a loan or tuition contract.
